The Daily CHEW™
Moving God’s Love from Head to Heart for Christian Professionals

A client once said to me, “I assumed CHEWing was just a journaling exercise—until the day I CHEWed with a friend on Marco Polo. Suddenly, my experience went from private prayer to a powerfully shared moment of real heart change.” Over the last few months, I’ve watched leaders, professionals, and families discover a simple truth: the more ways we engage the CHEW process, the more God’s love becomes a living, multiplying rhythm in our lives.

Maybe you’ve fallen into the rut of one mode—always in your head, or only writing it out—and you sense there’s more to be discovered. Today, I want to spark your imagination with a long list of ways you can CHEW, each one designed to help God’s truth travel from your mind to your heart and into your daily life.

Why Variety Multiplies Transformation

We grow when we meet God in multiple contexts—alone, with others, at different times of day, using the gifts and platforms He’s given us. The CHEW process is intentionally simple, but its power multiplies when how you CHEW matches where God is working and who He’s called you to love and lead. Some methods fit busy executives, others help parents or couples, and others work best for introverts or extroverts.

Here’s a living, growing list to get you (and your community) started:

Ways You Can CHEW

  • CHEW Alone in Silence: Reflect deeply in God’s presence, just you and Him.
  • CHEW with Friends: Gather with trusted peers to process the steps together, holding one another accountable.
  • CHEW with Your Spouse: Make it a nightly or weekly rhythm of spiritual connection and intimacy.
  • CHEW Using the Marco Polo App: Send CHEW video messages to a partner or group, bringing daily encouragement and feedback.
  • CHEW in a Group Chat (Text or WhatsApp): Share your Hear or Exchange step and witness how others process the same Scripture.
  • CHEW in Voice Memos: Record yourself talking through the steps and replay when you need clarity or encouragement.
  • CHEW with Your Children: Adapt the steps for family devotions, using age-appropriate questions.
  • CHEW on a Walk: Take your process outdoors, praying and talking aloud with God.
  • CHEW While Driving: Redeem commuting time by intentionally working the steps vocally.
  • CHEW with a Mentor or Coach: Invite someone to facilitate powerful questions and accountability.
  • CHEW in Your Journal: Write longhand for deep reflection, or opt for bullet points when short on time.
  • CHEW with Your Small Group or Bible Study: Pick a theme to process together weekly.
  • CHEW During Work Breaks: Find a quiet corner, close your eyes, and quickly run through the steps for an immediate mindset shift.
  • CHEW on a Whiteboard: Sketch your answers, mapping out how God is moving and what He’s revealing.
  • CHEW Using Email: Exchange your daily or weekly CHEWs with an accountability partner.
  • CHEW in a Prayer App: Use digital tools to keep your reflections portable and organized.
  • CHEW Through Worship Music: Let music guide your adoration step, then write or voice the rest.
  • CHEW After Reading Scripture: Read a passage, then immediately process through the CHEW steps.
  • CHEW at the Start of Meetings: Teams or staff can set the tone by briefly sharing a key Confess or Exchange insight.
  • CHEW for Major Decisions: Run the process at moments of transition, asking, “What does God’s love have to say right now?”
  • CHEW as a Family Tradition: Hold a “CHEW Night” monthly as a household check-in and spiritual reset.
  • CHEW During Your Workout: Integrate step-by-step mental reflection during your exercise routine.
  • CHEW With Index Cards: Write Adore and Confess prompts on cards for quick reminders throughout the day.
  • CHEW in Retreat Settings: Dive deeper with extended, extended time for the Hear and Walk steps.
  • CHEW on Video Calls: Use Zoom, FaceTime, or Google Meet for accountability partners not nearby.
  • CHEW with a Spiritual Director or Counselor: Integrate into professional support and healing.
  • CHEW Before Bed: Calm your mind and heart by ending the day on God’s truths.
  • CHEW First Thing in the Morning: Frame your attitude and actions as you begin the day.

CHEW in 3-5 Minutes: Try a New Way This Week

  1. Take three deep breaths — God’s love is present in every setting.
  2. Adore: Praise God for His creativity and the many ways He meets you.
  3. Confess: “Where have I limited my experience of Your love by sticking to one pattern?”
  4. Hear: “Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things” (Psalm 98:1).
  5. Exchange: “If I really believed God wants to meet me in every context of my life, I would exchange boredom in my spiritual rhythm for adventure and freshness in receiving His love.”
  6. Walk: Pick one new CHEW method to try this week from the list.
  7. Thanksgiving & Worship: “Thank You for loving me in so many ways, Lord. I worship You as the One whose love adapts, multiplies, and reaches every part of my story.”
