The Daily CHEW™
Moving God’s Love from Head to Heart for Christian Professionals
Why More Frequent CHEW Makes a Difference
You want God’s love to move from your head to your heart—not just in morning devotions or evening prayers, but all through your day and night. The desire is to weave the CHEW process (Confess, Hear, Exchange, Walk) into the very rhythm of your work hours, meetings, and rush-hour moments. After all, Scripture calls us to meditate on God’s promises day and night (Psalm 1:2). But real life doesn’t slow down for spiritual practices. Sometimes you barely have enough time to breathe, let alone do a “full” CHEW.
Small Prayers, Big Connection
Here’s the beauty of the Gospel—God doesn’t require perfection or lengthy rituals to meet you. Even when you only have seconds, a single piece of CHEW is powerful.
- Confess: It could be as quick (and honest) as, “Father, I feel overwhelmed.”
- Hear: You might just mentally cling to one verse: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
- Exchange: Silently ask, “If I truly believed You love me like You love Jesus, what would change in this meeting, call, or email?”
- Walk: In a high-stress moment, your micro-action may simply be pausing for one breath and re-centering on God’s love.
The Key: Frequency Over Form
You don’t have to do every step, every time. Each part of CHEW—alone or in any order—can return your heart to God’s love, especially when life is nonstop. The point isn’t performance, but purposeful returning. Take that one second, that one phrase, that one shift back to truth. God is always the active agent; your response, however brief, is real and enough.
Micro-CHEW Prompts for Busy Days
- “Father, help!” (Confess)
- “Thank you for loving me like you love Jesus.” (Exchange)
- “Remind me you’re here with me, right now.” (Hear)
- “Show me one step of peace.” (Walk)
Scatter them through your day whenever stress, anxiety, or even joy spikes.
Try This Today
Start right now—set an alert or sticky note with just one CHEW prompt. Whenever you see it, take that 3-5 second step. If you have time for more, linger. If not, remember: one step is always better than none.
Worship in the Midst of It All
Let each micro-prayer or thought turn into worship—a quiet offering that says, “God, I trust You are doing more than I see, even here, even now.”
Bring the CHEW rhythm into the fabric of your whole day—knowing every step, even the smallest, brings you closer to the heart of Jesus.
