Moving God’s Love from Head to Heart for Christian Professionals
Lisa is a rising COO at a tech firm, known for her sharp mind and the kind of work ethic people admire. More often than not, her colleagues turn to her for ideas, even when she isn’t looking for attention or authority. After a run of impressive wins with her team, Lisa began to notice something missing. The more she succeeded at work—especially in those meetings where she had to rally her peers without an official title—the more disconnected she felt spiritually, both from God and those around her. That gap between outward achievement and inner connection kept growing, and Lisa found herself longing for a kind of influence that reached far beyond her job description.
Gospel Insight: God’s Love Is Influence
God’s love shapes every relationship and transforms how we lead—even when we aren’t “in charge.”
Scripture repeatedly reveals that the greatest influence comes not from position, but from authentic love, humility, and unity. “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35).
Jesus led most effectively through service, relational investment, and a posture of humility (Mark 10:42-45). In business, this principle is echoed: true leadership means setting the example, serving others, and building trust across teams, regardless of your role.
Credibility and influence grow as we model God’s love—treating each person as significant, listening deeply, and seeking the team’s best interests. The Gospel moves us from measuring our worth by titles or achievements to leading with integrity, humility, and radical compassion.
CHEW On This™ Experience
Confess (C) to God
“Father, here’s what I’m honestly feeling right now before You about leading peers: Sometimes I feel powerless, frustrated, and unnoticed when I’m not in charge—but I also long for my impact to reflect Your heart.”
Hear (H) from God in Scripture
“Father, what Scripture do You want me to wrestle with right now?”
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” (Philippians 2:3)
(“You call me to influence through humility rather than position. What’s true about You: Your love is my power; You are glorified in my surrender, not my status.”)
Exchange (E) with God
- Option 1 (Beginner CHEWer):
“If I really believed God’s love for me is as strong as His love for Jesus, what would change right now?” - Option 2 (Intermediate CHEWer):
“If I really believed God’s love for me is as strong as His love for Jesus, how would that change how I approach this situation and how I prepare for it?” - Option 3 (Advanced CHEWer):
“If I really believed God’s love is [characteristic, intensity, or biblical image], how would that change my struggle, my desire for control, or my need for reassurance? What would shift if God’s love truly anchored me in this moment?”ship.”
Walk (W) with the Holy Spirit
“Holy Spirit, please guide me to the next step I should take that will please You.”
“Here’s the step I believe pleases You: Initiate a one-on-one encouragement conversation with a peer this week—affirm their strengths and listen to what matters to them.”
“Holy Spirit, if there’s a better step, shift me!”
