The Daily CHEW™
Moving God’s Love from Head to Heart for Christian Professionals
Summary: For Every Faith-Driven Achiever Who Wants Real Heart Change, Not Just More Spiritual To-Dos
You’re driven, you love God, and you want change that lasts. But even with a tool as transformative as CHEW, you will hit walls—dull days, distractions, stuck emotion, seasons when it feels like nothing’s happening.
Here’s the freeing truth: Sheer effort will never get you all the way. God delights in your honest practice and every return. Growth comes not from engineering the perfect spiritual session, but by returning again and again to the reality of His initiating, relentless love for you in Christ. This FAQ is a lifeline—for every question, discouragement, stuck place, and dry spell. Keep returning to the Core CHEW question:
“If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change right now?”
Why Does Progress Feel So Bumpy (and Does That Mean I’m Failing)?
You start CHEWing with hope, but hit a dead spot. You wonder if you’re broken, lazy, or missing something essential.
God’s position is settled—He loves you deeply right now (John 15:9, ESV). The aim isn’t a perfect emotional breakthrough, but to return to this:
“If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change right now?”
Persisting with the Core CHEW question—even in your weariness—is itself the workout that forms your heart.
The Gospel Meets Stuck and Struggling Places
God’s presence doesn’t rise or fall based on your CHEW skills. His pursuit of you is relentless. As you bring dryness, frustration, or questions to Him, you are branches drawing from the Vine—nourished not by success, but by connection.
CHEW On This™: Walk Through the Real Questions
Pause with each and answer for your real circumstance—always circling back to the Core CHEW:
“If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change right now?”
Confess
Where am I truly stuck, distracted, or doubting as I try to CHEW?
Sample answer: “I get distracted, expect to feel something dramatic, and then feel guilty when I can’t focus.”

Hear
What does God’s Word say about His faithfulness and love, even for my distracted or dry seasons?
Sample answer: “‘Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you’ (James 4:8). God’s love and attention are steadfast. He does not judge me for being scatterbrained or tired.”
How would you answer?
Exchange
If I really trusted God’s love is unwavering, patient, and as strong for me as for Jesus, what would I stop striving for—and what new freedom or comfort could I receive right now?
Sample answer: “I would keep showing up with honesty, and ask God to meet me where I am, not where I wish I were.”
How would you answer?
Walk
What is one small, honest act I can take today—journaling, repeating the Core CHEW question, asking for prayer—that signals my desire to draw life from Jesus, not just perform?
Sample answer: “I will write the Core CHEW question on a sticky note or set a reminder to revisit it throughout today.”

What If I Don’t Feel Anything When I CHEW?
Feelings are unpredictable, but God’s truth never changes. Sometimes, barriers (wounds, distractions, doubts) are present. Each time you ask the Core CHEW question,
“If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change right now?”
—you’re growing. Subtle changes (patience, courage, peace) often come before dramatic ones.
What If My Mind Wanders or I Get Distracted?
That’s normal—especially for high-achieving professionals with crowded minds. Distraction isn’t failure. As soon as you notice your mind wandering, gently return and repeat the Core CHEW question:
“If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change right now?”
You may need to write your answers, say them aloud, or share them with someone else. Each return builds the muscle of faithful attention and primes your heart to receive even more.
What If I Don’t Know What Part of God’s Love to Focus On?
Ask God in prayer, “Which aspect of Your love do I need to see most right now?”
Then use:
“If I really believed God is [patient/strong/present] with me, what would change right now?”

What If I Can’t Think of a Good CHEW Question?
Go with the Core CHEW question:
“If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change right now?”
Revisit this as often as you need. It’s enough.
What If I Keep Struggling With the Same Issue?
Persistent struggles usually mean there’s a deeper, core belief beneath the surface.
Use the Downward Arrow Technique with a Counselor or CHEW Triad:
- Start with your behavior (“I snapped at my spouse” or “I overworked again”).
- Ask: “What was I feeling right before?” (e.g., “Overwhelmed with deadlines.”)
- Keep asking: “If that’s true, what does it mean about me?”
(“I’m not enough” → “I might disappoint others/lose love” → “If I’m not approved, I’m unworthy.”) - When you hit bedrock (“I’m unworthy of love”), you’ve found a core belief that only God’s love can transform.
You likely can’t reach your core belief alone—defense mechanisms will stop you before you get there. Work with a trusted counselor, pastor, or CHEW Triad for support.
What If I Miss a Day (or Week, or Month)?
Grace is for this, too. The only “failure” is quitting. Pick back up, review why you stopped, and reset your reminders or ask for accountability.
Return to:
“If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change right now?”
Start there, right where you are.
What If I Don’t See Any Change?
Sometimes, change is slow and hidden—visible to others before you see it. Ask close friends if they notice growth. Focus on even tiny heart shifts (more patience, honesty, or humility).
Ask:
“If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change about how I measure progress right now?”
What If I Get Stuck or Discouraged?
Stuckness often means you’re growing. Bring discouragement to God, and invite community in. Sometimes, stuck seasons are God’s invitation to deeper trust.
Ask yourself:
“If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change about giving myself grace right now?”
What If I Want to CHEW With Others?
CHEW in community multiplies encouragement and transformation. Invite friends, your spouse, or your team to walk through the Core CHEW question together, even once a week.

How Long Should I Spend on Each CHEW Step?
