Love transforms us.  When we know something we’re doing bothers someone we really love, we stop doing it.  When we know that something brings someone we really love joy, we give it to them.

Our lives are not what they could be because we are not functionally convinced that God loves us with all He has and is.  If we were truly convinced of that, we would return His love with all we have and are, and we would be really different people, filled with joy.  So would change our marriages, parenting, friendships, businesses, etc.

There are many ways we can come to believe He loves us this way.  But it really starts with chewing on the Gospel until our hearts melt.

The Gospel shows us that God gave us all He has and is.  He gave us Jesus.

We were dead in our sins.  We hated Him.  We wanted to be god in place of God.  Nothing could be more offensive to the holy YHWH than that.  Yet He loved us.  Our sin separated us from Him, but His love was what was going to bring us to Him.

He came down in the person of Jesus, born of a woman.  He was fully God and fully man.  He did what we were supposed to do: He lived completely sinlessly.

He then was wrongfully convicted and hung on a cross.  While dying on the cross, He fully paid for all of our sins: past, present, and future.  He then died.  God raised Him from the dead three days later.

The moment He gives us faith to believe this Gospel, we get His record, are adopted into His family, are given unilateral promises that He will perform regardless of how we perform.  For example, He promises never to leave us or forsake us.  He doesn’t put any conditions on that promise to His children.

Do you feel your heart stirring a little bit now?  What if you pulled out the logical implications of the Gospel for 5 minutes more?  What would your heart be experiencing then?
