Too Busy To Have A Quiet Time… Try This: Part 4

If you’ve read the first three blogs in this series, you should see that there isn’t any excuse not to intentionally connect to God every day, even when you are super busy.  Some of the ideas we discussed could be done as you go.  The rest can be done in under five minutes. Of course, any ideas we discuss can be made significantly longer. Here are three more ideas for you to abide in Christ on busy days.

Read Just One Verse

Have you ever been struck by just one verse in Scripture? Sometimes, in studying Scripture, less is more. Search “favorite Bible verses of all time” and read one.  Think about it as you go throughout the day.  You can also read just one Proverb, which will do much good.

Think About the Sermon You Heard on Sunday

One of the things I love about my current church is that each of our pastors can preach well. From 1989 to 2002, I attended Redeemer Presbyterian Church (Tim Keller’s church), and I hung on to every one of those sermons. In my church, I find myself doing the same with equal delight. When I remember part of the sermon I heard on Sunday and chew on it, I find myself getting closer to God.

Review Your Sermon Notes

I’ve always taken notes on the sermons I hear on Sundays.  Guess how many I have reviewed, even once, in over 30 years of taking sermon notes.  You guessed it, zero!  It just hit me that if I just re-read those notes I took, I would get a ton out of it, be connected to God, and grow.

Chew On This:

What one verse has really impacted you?  What is it about that verse that you love?
